Test of technologies for flue gas cleaning and combustion improvement for existing residential wood burning appliances

Wood fired stoves and boilers are a main contributor to the air pollution in Denmark. The potential for reducing the air pollutants by filter technologies where tested.
Five technologies were tested. The test results were compared to tests on old stoves and boilers without any technology installed and with test on a modern Swan Eco Labeled stove. The applicability of the technologies where also tested.
The lowest emissions were measured from the new Swan Eco labeled stove, showing that a more efficient reduction of all the air pollutants can be achieved by replacing old stoves or boilers with new and more efficient ones, rather than installing any of the tested technologies.
