Spring Exposure of Pink-footed Geese to Pesticide-Treated Seed

In the spring Pink-footed Geese are feeding on newly sown fields ingesting Imazalil treated cereal seeds and Thiram treated peas. The daily intake of Imazalil by an "average" goose is estimated to be two orders of magnitude below the reported LD50 values for different tested bird species.
Effects are estimated to be limited. Thiram is more toxic and geese feeding on newly sown peas may in less than one hour obtain a dose where sublethal effects on reproduction can be expected, making reference to toxicological experiments.
