Substitutes for Potent Greenhouse Gases - Final Report

21-04-1999

The substances HFCs, PFCs and SF6 are potent greenhåe gases, the control of which is entrusted to the Kyoto protocol. HFCs are used as substitute for CFC in domestic refrigerators, in chillers and other refrigeration plants, in insulation foam, in fire extinguishants etc. PFC's are used as a drop-in substitute for CFC in existing refrigeration systems. Among others, SF6 is used in breakers, by magnesium casting, in double glazed-windows and a tracer gas. According to the report variå technological alternatives, abandoning application of potent greenhåe gases, are commercially available in almost any cases.
