Activity of Bacillus thuringiensis Strains Against Pieris brassicae

08-10-1998

Bacillus thuringiensis is a widely used microbial control agent. Å strains of this bacterium do, however, produce enterotoxins, which may cause health problems. The aim of this project was to explore the possibilities to classify strains of B. thuringiensis on the basis on their enterotoxin production. Strains low in enterotoxin production were used for studies on their effects on the target inside, Pieris brassicae (Lep.), a pest insect in cabbage. Several strains proved a good effect against the target insects.
